automatic running board problem
I got a 03 navigator ultimate with the automatic running boards the passenger side one works flawlessly but the driver side board does not come out when I open to the door I can hear the motor working but nothing is happening. Anybody else have this issue? if yes what did you do to fix it? I tried to look at the motor and gear box but it is all inclosed. I bought the truck used and the dealer told me since day 1 it never worked if I wanted it to work would cost me 1200$ I am just wondering if there is a quick fix to this problem

I had similair prolem with mine. I also had the squeeking problem on the passenger side. For the problem of not deploying the running board when the door waqs open on the drivers side, I was still under warranty. So it was repaired at no cost to me. In case your not aware, your warrenty runs 4 years, 50,000 miles. So you may still be under warranty. To take care of the squeeking motor, I actually found the guide for the running board to be the cause of the problem. I lubricated the guide with lithium gease and there has been no problem since.

I have looked at the guide. I tried lubing it and adjusting but the squeak is coming from inside the motor housing itself and it looks like it is all sealed up. Do you know if there some way to get to it to lubricate?
