I'm currently working on fixing up my new truck. It's a '95 F-350 with a 460/5 speed and 4 wheel drive. It's lifted and got some 36's on it and it could probably clear 40's. But, to my questions.

The truck currently has headers on it. But, they have bad gaskets and a bolt missing which turned out to be a bolt broke off in the head. I still haven't had time to try to get it out. I'm hoping I won't have to pull the head and maybe get an easy out on it. But, anyway, I was thinking of turning the truck back to manifolds. The headers leaking are causing a power loss, and of course I could put new gaskets on but I'd have to worry about tighening the bolts every 500 miles and gaksets neevr seem to last long with headers. I was told if I went back to manifolds I wouldn't have to worry about it. Whats your guys thoughts? Any advice? Also, I priced manifolds and they are as much as headers? Any where to get them cheaper? 280 per side is way too much.


Also, I was wanting to change the mufflers on the truck to get a little deeper tone to it they appear to be the factory ones at the moment. What would be a good choice? I've always heard good things about flowmasters but not sure what series for a big truck. Or any other brands? Cherry bombs?

To add to the manifold cost, I think I may have found a place on-line that sells them at a very affordable price just not sure if its my best move.

 

Since you already have headers, and assuming they're in good shape, I'd concentrate on sealing them better. Hopefully you can EZ-out the broken bolt without too much trouble. Then I'd install a premium set of header gaskets with high grade bolts and locks.

All that would be MUCH cheaper than new manifolds, and probably last a long time.

Mufflers are such a personal choice, it's really up to you as to brand.
For chambered types, I like the Edelbrock SDT and MAC FlowPath. Both flow well and should perform well on a big block.
