I checked the PVC valve as 97 Ranger suggested and it WAS out of the valve cover but putting it back in did nothing soooo I pulled the EGR valve and tried to clean the ports in the plenum....I also tried the apllying constant vaccum to the EGR valve and it made no difference in the way the engine ran( read somewhere to test it this way) don't know what that means though as I said I think this truck is trying to send me to the lunny bin...my own fault for buying a truck with 168000 miles on it
