Hello and info

Hi,

I am happy to a memeber. I hope to learn a thing or two.

btw, If anyone ever had this problem before you start spending money.

Try this:

I have a 1999 Explorer 4.0L SOHC. My check engine light came on a couple months ago. Now that the weather is better I decded to check it out.
My plugs have never been changed so I did them, What a pain in the neck.
btw, 187k on the truck. I had the codes of PO442, PO171, and PO174.
After the plugs, I had my fjriend with a computer gixmo, erase the codes.
Started her up, and bingo, no more codes. Only the 1st day but things look good. So, it was worth changing the plugs. not to mention , they sure needed it.

I hope this helps others with the same problem.

take care,
JR

Hello JR and Welcome to FTE!

Nice intro and I'm sure you will learn a lot here. You will want to stop by the Explorer forum if you haven't already. (Click on Forums at the upper left and scroll down the list.) Be sure and checkout your regional chapter to find what's happening in your area. Here's the link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum158/

See you on the boards.
