I have an 05, with 40,000 miles. I have been running a PPIII for 20,00o miles with no problems,
In the last month, it has twice started to smoke "lots" of blue smoke when driving around town ( with the engine warm) The smoke is clearly visible on a sunny day,
Then while towing a 2500 pound trailer, on a long pull - it let a huge amount of blue smoke out near the top of the hill - I had to back out of the gas pedal( obviously concerned) No Check engine lights, or abnormal Temp's,
Since then, I have removed the PPIII, and have only driven in town. No smoke to speak of,
Well blue smoke is generally a sign of burning oil, caused by excessive blow by at the piston rings, or leaks at the valve guides or an oil leak that is getting into the combustion chamber. These things don't necessarily set a code for excess oil consumption. Have you checked the oil level in your truck to see if it is dropping abnormally?
