Finally put it on. Took a little over an hour. Like everyone says instructions are a little lacking. Thanks to Beachbums pictures it was easy. I loosened the upper turbo to cooler tube to make the heater hose connection easier. Also drained about 2.5 gallons of coolant into my car wash bucket from the spigot on the left side of the radiator. Nothing came out of the hoses. Warmup proved flow so now to see when it stops getting it warm. 26K miles on a 01-04 build.
Need to see next week on how good my dealer is. A/C is not blowing cold and was looked at under warrentee on 4-06. Now it is 3 months over the 36 time limit so I'll see what they will do. I keep all my reciepts. I'll bet no leak was even looked for last time...We shall see. If needed I'll play the AWS card; who knows. Good luck to all......................
If you brought it in for the same problem in the recent past... I would like to think they will inspect it while you wait this time?
Glad to hear the coolant filter install went well. The easiest way is to "view" the coolant flow that drains into the degas bottle. You can do this with or without the cap on... but just look for the flow (bubbles). If you see it... great...if not... time to change.
I changed my first filter at 6,000 miles and was amazed (pics in gallery). I would change somewhere around 6,000 - 10,000 miles and then every 10,000 thereafter??? The first two filters will go quicker due to working the hardest to "clean" the system. The more highway driving you do the more "passes" the coolant gets through the filter.
Beach. They fixed? it no charge. Said they found a loose connection this time. Before I took it in I removed the filter because it was located over some of the A/C fittings. Took about 15 minutes to put it back on...Thanks again for your Pics....
This might be a little off topic but...Is it ever too late or not worth it anymore to install a coolant filter?,Meaning if you have 50,60,70,000 miles on your truck is it worth it to still do it or is better to do it in the newer stages on the trucks life to really make a difference? Will the damage already be done if the filter is installed later? Will doing it earlier come up will better results vs later in the trucks life? And one more thing....Will the coolant filter help with the sludge build up in my radiator from all my short trips?

my 2006 had 40,000k on it when i added my coolant filter system, i dont think it is to late to add one , it will start cleaning the dirty system as soon as its installed, and possibly help prolong your water pump and hoses......

this is a pic of the trash that was in the filter after the the first filter change with 3000 miles on this filter.....
I am a 100% believer in the dieselsite.com coolant filter and was so impressed with it, I sent pictures to them and detailed it here years back, that dieselsite even added my pictures to their website.
The filter is straight-forward, simple and effective. Just look at the pictures that many post and it should be the first mod people spend money on... as a picture is worth a 1,000 words.
I'm vaguely curious... Has anyone mounted one of the filters in a location other than the one Dieselsite uses, or using a different method of mounting the filter head?
I have my misgivings about their design.... (and can easily source alternate parts).
