I have a 77 f150 4x4 4spd 351m no air no cruise am radio. I was laying in the floor board looking up in the dash on the drivers side and around where the ignition is there is some sort of metal canister in there. It almost looked like it had wires going to it, and ive looked through my books and cannot figure out what it is without pulling it out. Does anyone know what it is???? am i thinking it is somthing more complicated than it is? Thanks.
I looked through fuel, dash, wiring, heater, body section illustrations...no see um. Thought it may be backside of a motor, or a switch? Mebbe "wires" are vacuum lines? Quien sabe.

if that windsheild switch assy goes thru the dash then its not it, and i dont see it on the bottom picture. I will see if i can put a bunch of light under there and take a picture.

If it is the wiper motor then the OP needs to describe things better.
The wiper motor is fastened to the inner top of firewall not near the ignition switch.
