Does any one know where I can find the lift laws for Pa. I have a 3 inch body on my truck now I wanna go with a 6 inch suspension, but i was worried about the laws and i cant seem to find them in any search i do any ideas? thanx
And if you google around more, you'll find that PA requires your rear bumper to be no higher than 30" off the ground (with the truck unloaded), and you're not allowed to use wheel spacers thicker than 1/4".
Yeah, I thought thats wat it was looks like its tine for a drop bumper cuz i'm heading to National Tire and Wheel now for my 6 inch. but thanx for the info
Alot of trucks form PA and other states are hassled every year on way to Bloomsburg PA for the show. I'd loose the 3" body lift and get the drop bumper ( I had to do it on an 93 with 6 " lift )
Its the front head lights and front bumper heights that get you. Run a post in PA chapters forum they will fill you in . Also you might want to check and see if you can find someone to inspect it for you. My cousin dose inspection in PA and he can be liable if he inspects a lifted truck . He'll do 3-4 in but no more and all brackets better be welded. Good luck
Well the inspection isnt a problem I got pretty good connections on that end. But i'm pretty sure that the only laws are that the rear bumper be no higher than 30'' it doesnt say anything about the front or the headlights.
Well, the lift laws aren't often enforced, unless you're pulled over for another reason and the cop decides to torture you a bit.
When I lived in upstate NY, I had an 81 crewcab with 20"-ish of lift, and the bumpers were mounted where they should be in relationship to the body - i.e. way up high. Even had a bumper sticker on the back that said "smile as you go under". I had a 3-rd brake light on the differential actually.
For the most part I didn't get hassled. The few times I did I was pulled over for not signalling, burnt out taillight, and the ride height then was an issue because it's an opportunity for more cash in the municipalities coffer's. I was never pulled over just because I ignored NY's 4" life limitation law.
they all vary as to the enforcement, in florida it's 29" front bumper and 30" back for a small truck, you can go higher based on gvw. but it's no strictly enforced around here unless you tick someone off or catch them at the wrong time of the month and they need to write a ticket for something/anything.
