What can I use to remove the oil sending unit on my 1988 F150 with a 5.0 is there and tips for this or just get it out any way I can? The motor is still in the truck with everything hooked up.
Sending units usually are like a bolt that you screw in to the block. You should be able to put a socket on it and back it out. I've used deepwell sockets in the past. If there is no room you may have to just use a wrench. It's been in there a while and it's going to be torqued down good.....just break it loose and it'll back out. Try spraying it with some liquid wrench and letting it sit some before you try.
If the bolt head part is shot you might have to use vise grips. It doesn't matter because you're going to throw it away and put the new one in anyhow.
I dont recall the size socket to use but it must be 6 point
about 1 1/16"
they make a special oil sender socket if you wish to spend
about 8.00 for a cheap one
