Towing issue

my 04 has sort of the same problem. If you try to physicaly put it in 3rd it will most always drop to 2nd and red line the engine. If you then shift to od, it will go into od. Same thing in tow haul. Sometimes is ok, but when it downshifts to 2nd(I guess it's 2nd)it's scares the bejebbers out of ya. Am taking it to the dealer next Monday. It has 90k on it so it is due for fluid change. I don't think that has anything to do with it though. Have 100k ext warr so I have a little time. Seems like it might be a computer problem maybe. I hope.
