I am thinking of getting the Edge Evolution eef-1120 (new on the market this year) for my 02 psd. It now appears to reflash the pcm as most of the other "tuners" do and it also gives me the gauges I would have to pay upward of $500 for including the pilar display. The Edge gives you a gauge display/tuner and dashboard mounting pod and 3 power levels above stock, all for just over $500. Everyone here at the forum seems to like the DP-Tuner, but I am reluctant to run more power without egt, boost and a more reliable trans. temp gauge.
So it would appear the eef-1120 would be about 1/2 the cost of the DP-Tuner and a set of pilar gauges. So if you have the time, I am really interested in your experiences with the Edge.
Well the edge has been great but I decided to remove it as I think my truck makes more power thats usable in everyday driving with the super chip tuner set on the hi/perf setting and the egt just barley gets over 1200 degrees and that was at full throttle with the speedo barried at 100mph So if anyone is intrested in buying the edge I have everything you need and the manual for cheap less then half of the 700.00 price tag thats on it new. Im going to just get a set of gauges and and leave the superchip in there its been good to me for last 20,000 miles and so has my truck so I decided to just keep it that way
Hey Gary, yeah it looks that way. HAH HAH . Well I know first hand they make a great product. I did take a look at the Info on this unit and I didn't see and info as far as stacking goes. For it to read and change all the setting that it does, I''m thinking that it plugs into the OBD Port. I purchased the scan 2 Gauge and it does all that the Edge unit does except change the setting to the PCM's such as HP, tire ratios and so on. It is just a scanner. It allows me to read mileage, fuel economy, miles to empty erase TC's etc. My truck is an xlt so no overhead info center. Well let us know what yah think sounds like a great piece of Equipment.Take care..Country
One thing I didnt like about the edge is it threw my check engine light on twice which I guess is understandable. And in the manual said was possiable and that they are known as "soft" codes they always turned off on there own. Probley also because I did have the 2 stacked but it also made my tranny in settings higher the #1 milage setting not shift It would shift to 3rd and the torque convertor would go to lock up but then wouldnt and rev out to 2500 plus untill it shifted with my superchip it shifts smooth and lower in the rpm range to keep me in the torque of the engine power. Which is how I reather have it so yesterday went to summit and got the auto meter 3 gauge pillar set 322.00 dollars later. Now I just need to off the edge nothing wrong with it Im sure it would work better stacked with another edge product but I really dont feel like selling my superchip tuner which has been great to me so far. To buy the edge evo for it if anyone is intrested in the edge let me know I will give someone a good deal on it

Well let me see here. I really don't understand that much about diesels yet, but I do know some about computers and it seems to me to be a bit complex to see where a problem is generated if you have one program stacked on top of the other. I also understand about the shifting. I too would rather have it shift up at a lower speed if I am not WOT for a smoother shift and better milage of course I now understand that a low rpm may have a correspondingly high egt. Everything else being equal, I like the shift lower.
It seems to me that the Evo is a new tune for the 7.3, and it may well be completely different. I was impressed with 3 gauges and pillar mount from Summit for $322 and I'll check them out. That makes the DP Tuner look better price wise.
I have had the edge evo II for about a month now and love it. I priced gauges and dp tuner chip and decided that I didn't want to spend a $1000. If add up gauges and dp tuner chip with several different programs included you are pushing a grand.
It came down to this:
I knew that Edge made great products.
EvoII has 6 gauges built in, is a code reader, has gauge memory, is a down loader-edge supplies the software.
Has great customer service-I've already seen this-they will overnight the part
And finally, with the money I saved I bought the 5" straight exhaust that I wanted as well as the Alpine cd/ipod unit.
I know that people may say but the dp tuner chip is the best and it probably is But........If you laid a set of gauges and dp tuner chip in one pile and beside it laid the evoII, a 5" exhaust plus the Alpine cd/ipod player in another pile.....well I'd pick the second pile and I did.
Getting the most out of my money spent was high priority for me but I do realize that everybody has their priorities. I am just speaking for myself.
So Tell me about the power and what are you running it on? I got an '02 7.3 psd, which has more power stock than the 91 with the 7.5 gasser in it, but it's not a huge difference. The PSD definitly has more torque, but the only major change is the milage. Pulling a 15K 5th wheel, with Banks headers the 7.5 was getting 5.5 to 6 mpg , and the psd is getting almost 12 pulling. Our next big trip will be in September up in the Sierra's, at times over 8,000' elevation. Maybe the turbo will make a big difference at altitude, and maybe not. But I was hoping the Evo II would make a huge difference just in case the turbo doesn't. Plus, for just over the price of gauges (which I really want) I get more power too?
level 1 = 60hp and 100lb of torque
level 2 = 80hp and 140lb of torque
level 3 = 100hp and 200lb of torque
I ride around on level 2 and it is a huge improvement over stock. In my opinion, it is night and day.
I tow on level 1 and it pulls way better. It doesn't need to down shift nearly as much as it did on stock.
Sometimes I ride around on level 3 and it's a beast. It feels like a different truck. It pulls like hell.
I could never go back to stock. Because running this programmer, especially on levels 2 and 3, stock feels like I'm pulling a load. Before, it was boring, now it's fun. It really brought my truck to life.
I have tan leather interior with the dash sort of two-toned. The pod matches almost perfect. It looks factory. It is not PERFECT match but definitely very close and I'm very particular about my truck.
I will take a picture when I get a chance.

EGT
Intake Air Temp
Trans Fluid Temp
Engine Oil Temp
Barometric Pressure
I have loaded the their Lightening Software on my laptop but I have not hooked my EvoII to it. You can do like a test run and them download it and run the software with it. I just haven't done it yet.
