Question IDI VS Powerstroke

I've got a 95 cc PS DRW that I love but I ran into a guy the other day that has a nice looking 94 cc DRW that has the tubo charged indirect injection motor. It only has 147,000 miles on it and he wants $5000 for it. I didn't have time to test drive it or anything but he said the transmission had just been rebuilt and he had done several other repairs recently. I know nothing about the IDI motors. How do they compare to the PS?

i have an old 6.9 that runs good.i like it because its fairly easy to service.when my 97 stroker needs repair i drive the old one.my 6.9 has over 200k miles no major problems! i also had a 93 idi w/ ats turbo set up that would smoke my 97 ps.had to sell though due to kids in car seats, hence my 97 is a crew cab.id buy an older one no problem!!

Stock for stock they are close to identical for power production, economy, etc. The IDI guys all say they are easy to work on, but my experience is with the PSD, so it's easier for me.

Can't make as much power modifying the IDI as easily as you can the Powerstroke.

its a trade off, IDI easy to work on for the begginer butless results in modding, powerstroke can leave you pulling your hair out from time to time, but responds very well to the mods. Also the powerstroke to me seems to be more money for items that break down like all the sensors.

Depends what your looking for, if your looking for power and bragging rights and money is not a direct issue, stick with the PS. I'f you are looking for a daily driver, weekend hauler thats dependable, go with the idi. Thier both fine engines.
