There's a sensor on the differential that could be bad. It's a low cost item to try. That was the problem with mine but don't ask me part nrs, etc as my son diagnosed and fixed it.
Steady, and the o/d is working properly. One thing I just noticed is that when I put the truck in reverse the idle drops low and feels like it is going to stall.
Thanks for the tip. That picture sure helped too. I did replace that exact sensor before. I'll grab a new one a give it a try before I hassle with a tranny place. Thanks.
take the shifter lever while in park when light is blinking just slightly move lever up in to park a little hard & down to the stop all of this while still in park. Do it very slowly to see if light quits flashing if it does you have a transmition range sensor going bad.
In my previous 99 with an auto, my lever light was blinking after I had tried to get my truck unstuck (With my 29' Travel Trailer in tow) and got the tranny too hot. Once it cooled, the light stopped flashing and never came on again.
yes you will have a little play in shifter while in park just move shifter up a little firmer & hold it there to see if light quits flashing then pull it down a little but not out of park & hold it to see if light quits flashing.By doing this you are checking to see if there is a bad spot in trans. range sensor.
Thanks. I tried this and nothing changed, also changed sensor on rear differential and no change. Guess I'll have no choice but to have a code check done. Thanks for the effort.
