What Would You Do?

Hey there I have an 06 F-150 Lariat that I absolutly love...however I do miss my diesel truck. Heres the delema...In the next year or so I will be looking to get into a crew cab truck and I am going to buy another diesel. Shoul I look for a 2007 truck used/new or go for the 08. I was thinking that maybe the 09's will have all the bugs worked out and be a better truck. I do not know much about 6.4's but from what I 've read sounds good. My 04 SD was bought back and I am a little hesitiant about buying the first year. I love the look of the 05-07's but I still have the sour 6.0 taste in my mouth.

Thanks,

Sarge

I do a lot of reading on here and I would think to look for a 2007 6.0. I think they are going to be like the 03-7.3 where people just love them and they go forever. I still dont think they will have all the bugs worked out in '09 because it does take a few years for the bigger problems to surface. I believe that is why they stilled had several problems with the early builds of the '04. I am actually expecting to see a fairly big change somewhere in '09 or in '10 just like we seen between early and late '04. I guess that is just what I think..so....

Thats what I am thinking too. My 04 was great just that the dealer wouldnt fix the coolant leak, I wish they had. It was just easier to buy it back and auction it. I am happy with the 150 its a great truck but I cant justify a 50,000 dollar truck. I dont see as many problems with the late build 06-07 6.0's so I am hoping that the big 6.4 craze will pay off, for me atleast, with a low mileage trade in and a great deal. I will stick with a Lariat though. Its a great package...

Sarge,

Just keep in mind that the next round of emissions regulations kick in for 2010. If there are any concerns out there when it comes time to release these engines there may be a run on anything 09 or earlier.

I've got an '08 on order, but if I didn't need the truck soon I would have waited a year. Reports have been real good on this brand new engine and transmission, but I have just always felt that it is generally better to wait a year on new drivetrains.

It seems you are on a one man mission here in the 6.4 forum to bash Ford. Your soap box gets smaller with every post.

You have had a very bad 6.0 experience. We get it...and have for the years you have been here. Whether the future proves you right or wrong....Enough please.

I for one have had several FORD trucks, I have had 4, 6.0l and still have an 07 and now my new 08 6.4l THEY ARE ALL OUTSTANDING! SUre the 6.0l had some issues, but YOU Mr Tn Mac appear to be bored or ignorant or both, since I am an employee of a FORD dealership why don't you give me your VIN# so I can run it in OASIS and verify all these problems you claim to have.

If infact you have had all these problems you have bored all of us with for years now, I bet we can come up with a prize you can hang on your refridgerator so you can look at it every day and smile!

I for one don't believe 1/3 of what you say and am sick of your posts, so prove it!

I'd have to say that I am impressed with how the 6.4 has been working out. There seems have been few problems...

If it were me and needed a truck right away, I'd look for a used 06-07 or even wait a year and get a used 08. I have a hard time justifying buying new because of cost, just my personal preference....Good Luck

Montanacw,This was from another post that tn mac had posted on and that Bob Marlin responded to. I agree with you guys.
It is not "us" people, it is just tn mac crying about his truck (which he still owns oddly enough) and constant sniveling falls on deaf ears around here. He is like chicken little and the sky is always falling. Pay no attention to him as his opinions are about as valued as a fat turd in a bowl of Wheaties. I choose not to engage the mentally challenged and refuse to pay any attention to his constant "6.0's suck and the 7.3 is the ONLY motor worth owning" nonsense.

Consider his replies to be like a mild case of jock itch and do not scratch it. I have a 2006 6.0 with 23K miles and not so much as a hiccup so far and if it does hiccup then the dealer will handle it. Simple. This entire thread was started by me only to discuss the failings of my dealer to get me into a new 08 and not to listen to his nonsense but he never stops. If I were as unhappy as him I would go bite the end of my pistol or at the very least unload my truck but it probably more fun to come on here and cry all day, every day about how his truck failed him somehow. Again, the same truck he still drives every day.....

Thanks everyone for the post. I too agree that tn mac should put up or shut up as far as all the negativity goes. If you get a good one you do if you get a bad one same goes. I unfortunatly needed a heavy truck for a while and got a bad 6.0. Everyone I have talked to and read about say that the 06-07's are good. I look at the 08's and like and like them but I cnat justify the amount I would have to pay to get into one. So I would rather let someone else take the hit on it. I was not sure about the new emissions requiements for 2010 so I will keep that in mind. As for right now I will look for the great deal on an 06 or 07 if I can... if not I amy buy a new 09. As far as all that have had issues with the 6.0... its ok to be bitter but you need to let it go. I was one and have moved on FORD did right by me and made me happy. I just miss my diesel and want some info on the new and older trucks since I have ben away from the diesel forum since 04. Thanks again for all the helpful info.

Sarge

p.s. I may go and drive a new 6.4 today just for kicks !!!

I did drive a new 350 super cab Lariat and its very nice, smooth and refined...what a great truck. I just cant justify driving around in a 55,000 $$$ truck so I think I will either buy a used one next year or look for a 07. I am not scared of the 6.0 I loved mine. I may have bought the 08 though if it was a crew cab... They seem hard to come by around here.

Thanks,
Sarge
