What is this

today as i was sitting at a red light & happened to look down at the guages , I noticed 2 small black ***** just above & to the either side of speedometer, one can only be pushed in but not turned, the other can only be turned but not pushed in. I pushed & turned but nothing happened, can anyone tell me what these are?

PS: my computer was just attacked by a virus while i was typing this message

If you have the digital odometer, the one on the right changes it to the trip odometer and the one on the left resets the trip odometer.

Yes, that is the way my 93 works, the botton the right changed the Digital display between total miles and trip miles and when you are on the trip miles display, you can zero your trip miles using the button one on the left.
