code po304 help
yesterday I was driving and all of a sudden the engine startes to miss and sputter. The cel came on and remained on but intermintently flashed now and again. I pulled the code and it was po304 which is # 4 misfired. I have a 97 expy 4.6 with 189500 miles and up until now it has really been good to me. I have read some of the threads on here but am somewhat confused. It seems this misfire could be caused by a number of things. But # 4 is way in the back where it isnt easy to get at or for that matter to see. I dont have the cop on each plug but I do have the coil packs on each side of the engine which have never been replaced. I have replaced the wires and plugs at 102000 miles and have done all scheduled maintenence. Any body have any ideas what is the most likely cause?

This just happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I would put my money on the Coil Pack. They are cheap and if that isn't the problem it is pretty good preventive maintenance. Reward your Expy with some TLC. Good luck!

thanks guys for all your input. took her to local mechanic and turned out the heater hose was leaking right into #4. tightened hose, replaced plug and wire all for 159.00. mostly labor only 28 for parts. but peace of mind. thanks again
