I want to modify my truck and have an 07 6.0 and don't want to increase the compression within the engin. What are the best mods the will increase the performance of the truck while maintaining the realiablity.

You might want to try this down in the 6.0L forum.

In my opinion I don't think you're going to notice much of a "performance" change by doing anything other than a tuner.

A major part of the reliability factor is an educated right foot attached to a driver paying attention to the EGT gauge, IMHO.

Having said that, an SCT Xcal-2 with good custom tunes will give you the most added muscle for your dollars. A cat-back or turbo-back exhaust will free up the exhaust flow and help keep EGT numbers lower. Get a good set of gauges including EGT and trans temp.

Lots more great info in the 6.0 Forum as Beerstalker stated.

Even tho I haven't done it on my 04 it sounds to me the best thing might be the power elbow. For longevity: Baldwin water filter, fuel additive, and a EGT.

Powerws,

We are straight up from you on NC Hwy 16 in Denver, NC. We stock a long list of great mods for your truck, including fuel system components and crossover lines (designed to remove air and pressure spikes from your fuel system and prolong injector life), Evan's Waterless coolant (a great replacement to increasing cooling system capacity) Exhaust, Gauges, EGR system deletes, and a full line of SCT products and custom tuning. We do have tunes designed strictly to address the transmission, turn off the EGR system and obtain extra fuel economy with out increasing power or cylinder pressure (if you so desire).

Give us a call or stop by the shop

Change the oil every 5k, using oem racor filters, fuel filters every 15k using oem racor filters, Air filter every 30k using the oem synthetic blue media filter, tranny flush at 30k and external oem filter, then drain and refill pan and change external filter every 15k there after. After you have all of this down pat, and know a little more about the truck and their quirks, then go see Matt. He will steer you in the right direction. The less than a grand special (not by much) is xcal2, gauges, and muffler/cat delete.

Ryan, your usual straight-up, common sense advice. I fail to see how the power elbow is the one single best mod you should do first anyway, LOL.

FIRST thing, is to get your motor in shape to perform any upgrade as Ryan posted above. Otherwise, you could be an accident waiting to happen, with a potentially costly fix.

Then go call Matt and figure out exactly what you use your truck for, what you would like it to do better and all that stuff that Matt will ask you about. But, FIRST things first.

The intake elbow is just about the last mod I would do being new to diesels, especially the 6.0. So much other stuff that are no brainers (clean oil and clean fuel is the secret to injector life in these trucks) that should be taken into consideration/budget long before any performance mods. I will say this though, even if you DO NOT WANT TO TUNE YOUR TRUCK, get an SCT xcal and tune the trans if your towing. You will not regret it, neither will your wallet.

Don’t most of the mods listed void warranty?

Depends on who your dealer is, and what you do to the truck. THe key is to ASK before modding.
