Angry How hard is it?

I have an 84 Ford F250 with a 351 Windsor. I put in an Edelbrock carb, intake ,and cam recently. It has taken me MANY months to figure out why I cannot get the rockers to zero clearence. I have now just learned that with the cam I chose requires adjustable rockers. Edelbrock forgot to tell me that in there instructions and repeated calls to there help line. So I need to put in adjustable rockers! I have found a conversion kit for the pedestal style rockers. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=crn-36655-16 my question is how hard is it to put in roller rockers with this conversion kit? how much adjustability am I going to get? Is it worth it? or should I put a different cam in?

I have never done it before, but I know what they are talking about, and it should be an easy bolt in as far as the parts. The hard part will be getting the adjustment correct. That requires turning the engine to TDC #1 and adjusting those valves, then turning the engine 1/4 turn and adjusting the next, and so on.

The big pain with 302/351w heads is they use the pedastal to guide the pushrod and keep it lined up straight. In the old days, it wasn't much better, when they use the top of the valve stem to guide the rocker and the pushrod. Chevy made the holes in the head casting small enough, to where the casting guided the pushrod.

That's what this kit is going to do. You are going to bolt a little plastic coated forked plate down on the head with a stud. This will guide the pushrod, which will guide the rocker. After that, they are going to give you a locking nut, which you can set anywhere you want without it coming loose, and the rocker is free to move to your setting, since it doesn't have to sit down in the head and guide the pushrod.

Thanks! Franklin I dont know how I would live without you! I heard that with this conversion or any in general. That I would have to adjust them every week! But crane cam Energizer aluminum roller rockers seem like they wouldnt need that! So a simple bolt on wouldnt be too bad!

I just looked at the picture a little closer, and it looks like they are going to give you the tall nuts with the set screw in the middle as the lock. This is the same thing they used on some of the older Ford heads. As long as you hold the nut with a wrench, and tighten down the allen bolt good and tight, it should stay in adjustment.
