howdy all,
my backup lights aren't working on my 79 bronco, I bought the repair manual for it, but all it says to is put a pin into the hole in side of switch to readjust. Am wondering if i'm supposed to move shifter with ppin in switch. or if just poking pin in will adjust the switch?
thanks
chuck
Inserting a pin into the hole is for alignment of the switch itself. You need to loosing the nuts that hold it in place. Recently, I replaced the whole switch due to the fact the I could not start my Bronco in Park and then it stopped working even in Neutral. The new switchs are real cheap (bought mine at Autozone for under $20) and there are no adjustments to make. Took me about 20 minutes to replace it.

definitely from underneath....it's an auto right??just take the nut off the kickdown lever and remove the 2 bolts holding the switch on...pull it off and unplug it...i'd check it to be sure that's the problem before replacing it...although it could never hurt to replace it...old as it is
Think that switch is definitely the problem, I crawled under there last night and found the switch attached with a zip tie, guy I bought her from musta tried to fix before selling and gave up, looks like he used some sorta knife to try and pull out the connector and tore it to little pieces, guess I'll be making a run to the ford dealer this weekend.
