Greetings from SoCal! Request permission to visit the NorCal chapter from time to time. We just closed escrow on 40 acres of pine forested paradise in beautiful Hayfork CA (Trinity County). We're planning our escape from SoCal upon my retirement in a couple of years. We'll be making trips up as often as possible and we promise to be good neighbors and leave all the mini malls, fast food joints, and corporate crap behind.
Welcome to the chapter, and congratulations on leaving the city behind! One of these days we will be able to get out too. (left So Cal, but still in a city). I am hoping to move to Arizona but I don't know if that will happen anytime soon.
I'll post photos in my gallery. We're planning a trip up sometime in the next couple of weeks. Going to park the camper on the property, watch the sunrise over the valley and "mark our territory" (with some help from the home brew.)
I just mapquested Hayfork, that is a bit up north of my usual stomping grounds, for sure, but seems like it'll be a real nice place to settle down and call home.
Good for you and yours, best thing to do is work hard, cash in and call it quits when you're young enough to enjoy it!
Welcome to the North and welcome to our chapter. We're a pretty friendly club that has lots of really smart and helpfull people in it. Every once in a while we get together at truck shows or at a member's house to work on our project truck.

Many of us have bumpside and dentside pickups as well as older classics and new Fords. Please ask questions, join in on discussions, and share stories and knowlege.

We're Santa Fe bound in about 15 years ourselves..... This will come sooner than we think.
I lived in between Hayfork and Hyampom as a kid, my folks taught school in Hayfork. I also spent 3 summers working on a ranch up there when I was in my 20s so I'm very familiar with that area. Congrats on your property purchase, that's some of the prettiest country in the state. Got a lot of fond memories of it...
Thanks, all, for the warm greetings. We hope to make our escape while still young enough to do things like walk unassisted and chew solid foods. In the interim, we're fixing, upgrading and getting our properties here in SoCal ready to start paying us back. I've posted photos in my gallery. We'll take more photos and post them after we make the trip in a couple of weeks. You'll see Bubba and the Porta Palace (truck and camper) as they were meant to be: outstanding in their field. Stay tuned!
Yeah, I don't think Orange County even has orange groves in it anymore. Used to be some out on the way to Irvine, but I don't know if they are still there now.
