i have an 02 F-350, auto tranny, and when you shift from 2nd to reverse, it blows the fuse. the accelerator and gueages dont work when this happens. wondering what it may be a short in? does it have something to do with the brake pedal? because when you go from drive to reverse, you touch the brake... any help would be great. thanks!
What fuse is blowing? I would think it would not have to do with the brake because it does not blow when you just hit the brake. More likely, I would suspect something in the steering columb or the trans itself.

Pull the steering column cover and check for a short in the wiring inside there. Which fuse is it blowing?
What does your owner's manual say about that? I don't know what year your truck is. Hmmm, fog lamp switch on mine. Do you have fog lamps? I'll bet you need to look inside the column.
I show fuse #15 as a 5amp. In my truck it is located 4th from the left on the second row and it controls: Stop lamp switch, Generic Electronic Module, PCM,ABS Brake Shift Interlock, Cluster and PCM memory.
I bet this is the one. The brake shift interlock sound very likely. I agree with Tenn, you are going to have to open up the column and blow a few fuses to find the problem.
Tenn is correct. It's the same old problem that Fords had since the early OBS trucks. The overdrive wires from the shift lever run over the column and rub the wire insulation off. Intermittant shorts whenever you move the lever.
I would say the the wrong amperage fuse is there because someone ran out of the 10A because it kept popping them and only had 5A left.
