Ford transmissions

I am having some trouble with my tranny. I have a 90' bronco with a 351 and E4OD W/ Overdrive. it feels as though it has lost power, i cant accelerate up hills like i used to. i also make a loud "clunk" when i shift into Drive. Any and all infomation would be great.

I've also got a '90, 351 and E4OD. Had to have the tranny rebuilt a couple yrs ago. Can't even remember all the symptoms, but one was excessive torque converter slippage. If I'd hit a climb the rmps would climb by at least 500rpm. The clunk you get in D could be u-joints in the rear d/s.. . have you checked that? In any case, a rebuild if needed will run $1000-3000 for the E4OD.

As for the clunk..... could be the U-joints, rear end, or possibly internals in the transmission, but I recall a number of posts on the same thing about a month or so ago. I believe the fix involved sliding the end out of the drive shaft and packing it with grease. It seems that there was some slack in this area that could be remedied by the grease job. Anyway, this may be a place to check.
