dies when turning left?
My 88 EB Bronco runs great and seems to have no mechanical problems except for the fact that it dies when I make a sharp turn left. It only does this when I turn the wheel all the way to the stopping point and has done it several times now. I haven't been able to find any problems under the hood that I could relate this to and was hoping that someone else might have some ideas.

Don't turn left! Seriously though, you need a tuneup, or your idle is set too low, probably both. When you turn the wheel all the way, it puts a lot of extra pressure on the power steering pump, which in turn puts a lot of extra strain on the engine. in other words, the power steering pump is still trying to turn wheels that won't turn any more. This will decrease the engine rpm, so if your idle is already too low, or the truck is not in a good state of tune, it will be enough to kill the engine. I don't know why it happens only when turning left, probably the way the power steering sytem is designed it puts more strain on it when locked to the left. Are you sure it does not do it when turning right? If not, I'll bet it comes close. Incidentally, full lock turning is very hard on the power steering pump and can cause premature failure. Put some 31" tires or larger on it, and you won't be able to turn it all the way anymore!

I'm betting you've got the 302? If so, you should have a ps pressure switch which increases idle when turned to full lock. Consider replacing this. As for where it's located I have no idea since I have the 351!
