Just bought another truck.... 89F150 XLT. It's pretty rusty but the drive train feels/sounds good and the money was right... at least for me.
The door tag is hard to read and I can't tell what the trans code is... it looks like a "T", but I don't see that code in my chart. I know it is a 302 and axle code is "H9" which I should be a 3.55 LS. Previous owner says it is an OD tranny ... it is NOT the one with a button on the dash. Gear selector reads P-R-N-D-2-1
Of course I have no way of knowing if column or tranny has been replaced.
someone could have changed dash so if has aod which is what my truck had t trans code ur second gear is drive and drive is overdrive best way to tell is drive in drive at between 45-50 u will feel a shift to overdrive and truck should lug a lil i have same setup in mine at 45 od kicks in when i let off gas slightly and is noticable if urs does it then just drive in second because od trans has p-r-n-od-d-1 this is what my dash has
Thanks all.... I thought it got lost here as it flew to the second page quickly with only a view or 2. Sorry i doubt that folks would go back that far. I'll be more patient next time.
Appreicate the info here as well as I thought the shift indicatiors were odd not showing OD anywhere.
I'm going to go ahead and crawl under it. I really suspect this thing have had parts swapped in and out of it. I remember seeing the pan shape to identify.
I quit updating mine. Except mine are all beaters. lol - I find so many out there that I bought a tow dolly. I quit dreaming about projects... I have probably owned 10 trucks in the last 2 years. I was down to 2 truck Tuesday morning, but I am up to 4 now. Tow dolly runs on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
geez - it's confirmed. I'm an idiot. Column markings i posted were from another truck. I counted pan bolt, looked at the column again in the light, and the door tag says "T". Everything matches up to AOD as Numberdummy stated.
