10K mod question

I did the 10K mod last night and from what I understand sometimes it takes several times of plugging it in before the CEL goes out. I did it the first time and the CEL never came on. I think it runs better but not sure if it is mind over matter. Did I do it right???????

I pulled the connector off and removed the yellow plug seal. I then put the two wires of the mod in the top right and bottom center connection hole of the plug. Then I put the yellow rubber back on. Then I plugged it back on to the sensor, it was sort of hard to put back on since there was more connection thickness. After a little persistance it went on and clicked.

Is there a way to check the ohms or some other way to verify it is working

yes just unplug the connector and ohm out the two terminals you have the mod plugged into. if your ohm read is whatever your resistor is then your set. you may have just gotten a good connection the first time!

I suppose that was a no brainer. Sorry. I was hoping that there was a way to do it without unplugging it. I will play with it and see what I can see.

Lightbulb

The other way is running a wire to a switch and testing in on and off, checking the difference.

That is something I was thinking about doing but I wondered if I put a length of wire all the way inside and back would it change the effects of the mod? Also would I have to use the same gauge of wire or could I use any size?

it won't affect the mod as long as your connections are good. Also you can use pretty much any size wire. Even the really small stuff.

Thanx for the answer. The reason for the size question is because I used solid core telephone wire taken staight off the house.

One more question: Why does the CEL light usually come on? Is it because it is hard to get a good connection or is it because the computer is not used to this. And if so will the CEL come on periodically when I flip the switch.

The reason I want a switch is because I sometimes pull a 36' camper and I don't have gauges yet.

I think its usually the connection issue for the CEL light. you may see while driving with a heavy foot becuase you are maxing out the hpop but thats not much of a worry either.
