DIESELMAN3500............"as for the temp i figured that since the oil is being pressurized it would meet the 150 deg temp, bc i know VO needs to be at a magical 178* before being injected so it atomizes correctly and doesnt leave deposits on your injectors which i think happened"
Its not really appropriate for me to address all of the "miss information" in this statement at this time on this thread......basically, if you do not add heat to VO, it will maintain about ambient temperature (maybe plus 15-20°F from under hood radiant heat)
and this "stuff" about a "magical temperature and atomization" Do Not have a clue as to how a IDI diesel works and very little about how a DI diesel works.........................especially with VO......
IMHO trying to use these alternative fuels in these old engines is just asking for trouble. Trying to cram some unknown fuel through these mechanical pumps is just going to end their life and goo everything all up. The only way to do it would be if you had a consistant highly refined source.
With the research I've done on running VO, I've decided that when I set up my truck with it, it will be a completely independent fuel system up to about 10 inches from the the IP input line. The fuel lines will run through piping that is in line with the heater core for the pre-heating, and it will circulate constantly so that the cold oil in the filter will be cycled out by preheated oil before switching over from the regular diesel.
