Angry Suspension Problems!HELP!

I have been having my 97 Eddy Expedition for a little over 1 year with 150,000 miles on it....I have noticed a big change in the ride. It has always had a little bounce in the ride but now it seems almost uncontrolable. The front end almost seems to want to bounce off the road when traveling on the overpasses here. Could it mean time to replace shocks/stryts whichever i have. Need any info on this please i love my truck but no so much these days when i can't enjoy my ride. Thanks

If you have the original shocks on the front it could certainly be time for new shocks. It depends on if you have air suspension as to what your choices are. If you do it limits what is available, but if not a lot of us use the bilsteins and like them.

just FYI: when my lower ball joints went south (at about 85,000 miles), the first symptom was that the truck was much more unstable while cornering. Of course wornout shocks don't help....

Besides previous suggestions you should check your sway bar bushings and end links, I have 97 also and one bushing was cracked in half and the end links were also worn out, installed a sway bar kit from energy suspension and it made quite a difference in handling.

Now that you mention stabilizer bars the original links are prone to breakage. So you might want to check them out.

Monroe makes good ones....Alot of guys like bilstiens but they can get kinda pricy. Truly look at what type of driving you do most...tell that to the counter guy and they will usually lend their knowledge of what choices you have and fit that to hoe you drive.

Red face

I decided to go with Monroe shocks , thanks for the suggestion...Also in the rear I have air ride suspension. I was told by someone that I may have too much air going into the bags which could cause my truck to bounce when I am riding. He mentioned something about a switch of some kind to adjust the amount of air going into the bags. Has anyone heard of this before? I have a 97 Exp. Eddie Bauer w/ 5.4L.

I have never heard of the switch you refer to. The air bags in back are also supported by gas shocks. I asumed you were replacing all four.

Good luck.
