go to articles/specs at the top of the page.

find article on changing cluster to one with tach.

that will show you how to remove the cluster to replace bulbs.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to replace them all. Think there is about 18 or so bulbs in there. Sure be a pain to pull it apart next month and do one more.

You can change them without removing the cluster......follow the article about removing dash bezel....then the screws around the clear face.....the three across the top are a tight fit....i used a 1/4 ratchet and short 5mm socket and laid a rag over the clear to keep from scratching it........then the other 4 to get the clear off. Two more at the bottom let you remove the black trim ring. After that gently pry out the gauges in the order the article says and all the bulbs are there. Took me about a 20-30- minutes taking my time, to get access to the gauges.

Removing the cluster in these trucks is extremely simple. The hardest part was disconnecting the shift indicator cable from the column and that was a piece of cake. I had the cluster out of my truck in no more than 10 minutes when I installed a tach cluster in my 96 F250. It would take you more time disassembling the cluster while still mounted in the truck, than to just pull it. Start to finish, inlcuding taking apart two clusters, cleaning them, and replacing any questionable bulbs took no more than 45 minutes start to out driving. I wouldn't replace all the bulbs given how easy it is to remove the cluster. I Guess some of you guys have never pulled a cluster from a passenger car, where it can be a royal pain, dropping the column, dismantling the dash, and such. Take advantage of the easy removal in these F-Series trucks and do it right. Plus spend about 10 minutes and clean the dust off of the gauge faces with a damp paper towel. My 96 was caked with dust and it really helped clean up the gauge apperance.

Here is the article.......worked very well for me to change out to a tach......I had a gauge sticking after and just opened if up in the truck to fix it. Follow this and you'll see how easy it is

https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...Or_Bronco.html

Good Luck

unixadm...I agree it's very easy......I just don't like plugging and unplugging and disconnecting things too often......when I can accomplish what I need by not doing that.....I feel better.......old gnarled hands have a tendency to be less than gentle sometimes....
