Cool Oil Leak ???

Had a shop replace rear main seal , 302 , 4 speed . I bought the parts . 2 months later leaking again between tranny and engine plate , not back of pan where it leaked before . Can the rear main seal leak between the engine plate and tranny also ? The shop says we cant guarantee the parts you bought . I told the shop you should of told me that in the first place . Charged me 350 bucks . $15 dollar seal . Any ideas on these subjects please . Is there a place I can go and fight this ? Ken .

I think I would find a reputable mechanic to evaluate whether it what a defective part or workmanship. If he determines the the workmanship was to blame, then you would have a strong case in small claims court. Taking it to a Ford dealership would really be the best place to have the check done. Also find out what seal the mechanic would of used so you could compare the warranty and price of the seal. I would have a friend call for you and get this information for a vehicle similar to your truck. Otherwise he could be tempted to claim he would of used a top quality ford dealer product, which rarely the case.I am guessing that your crankshaft was worn where the seal contacts it. That is usually the case in my experience when premature seal failure happens. Good luck!
