Thumbs down

460s came OEM in late74 through 79 F series. Why buy aftermarket engine swap type engine mount set up if correct mount system exists OEM?

For all intents & Purposes F Series engine bays are same 1965-79. OEM Mounts are superior to any aftermarket mounts I have seen yet. OEM Mounts cross bolt brackets so if insulators were to rip or fail the engine can not roll over in the engine bay.

Yes FoMoCo mounts are pricey new, but any extra co$t is well worth it and is cheap insurance IMHO. I'll spend the extra $$ for that. Of course if you aren't going to "Run" your 460 then maybe you don't care about the durability issue. That 500 +/- lb/ft of torque can break things that are not up to the task. Don't ask how I learned that.

Hit the wrecking yards and look for a '73-'79 with a 351M, 400 or 460 and get the engine mount perches from it. You should find basically two types, that use two different motor mounts. The first type has the stud from the mount going straight into it at about a 45º angle, just like the earlier bumpside mounts and is retained by a nut on the backside of the mounting surface. On the other type, the mount has two ears (one on top and one on the bottom) that fit over the perch and there is a through-bolt that drops in from the top side and is nutted on the bottom. You can use either type, you just have to have the matching motor mount on the engine.

I hope my description helps you visualize what I'm talking about...sometimes a picture truly is worth a thousand words and in this case I don't have a picture...
