hey guys i just recently purchased a 2002 ranger 2wd with torsion bars and i just got a crap load of work done on it. so heres the problem i got it alligned and the shop said that it'll drive straight but that the tires will wear away alot quicker that the norm because there is a lift on it. they say that the camber is way off, so they said that my torsion bars had been cranked up to provide the lift. so they said that i would need to buy an aftermarket camber kit to get the camber of the truck back into the right zone. so i was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction in finding the right camber kit that would allow me to keep the lift and yet fix the camber. the shop said that i could just crank the torsion bars down but i've taken quite a liking to the truck with its lifted look so any inout you guys got is well appreciated. thanx
Sad to hear that the alignment shop can't figure this one out. Maybe it's not their expertise?? Try a thread search. Keyword 'camber' should do it. Never done it myself, but some of the guys on here have said that there's a set of camber adusters for it. Can't remember how many degrees it gives, but it's definitely out there. I read of one alignment guy that just eliminated the stock adjuster to get it line, just to have the owner find his front end floppin' around after a bit.
I'm with you Fred, I can't believe thay can't come up with the proper parts. I have my t-bars cranked, but didn't need a camber kit. I would call around to some different tire shops and so on untill you find one that can do the job properly, no sense in you chasing parts as it will need to be realligned after the camber kit. May not even need the kit, may just need a shop thats knows what thier doing. However camber kits aren't out of the norm for a t-bar crank, but not allways nessesary.
