Hey fishy, on the hydro, I just installed a redneck ram setup on my friends bogger. IT IS AWSOME! For the money it's pretty good. It will scoot the truck sideways at a dead idle if you put the tire up against a post. And his truck is pretty heavy. Anyway, just my .02.
thanx for the heads up, but i have been running a home built redneck ram setup and it does pretty good, but since this is a trailer queen i figure full hydro is in store! it was my original plan to but decided not to at the last minute so that i could start using it.
im getting tired of my hydro assist as well it has a good bit of power(it can move the truck sideways)...i want the power and feel of full hydro!! not to mention the simplicity
yea hydro = hydraulic... i'm just to lazy to fully type it out, lol.
all i gotta do is find a steering valve... the ram is fine to use with full hydro i just wont have any feel. also need to see if my pump is going to suffice or if i need to get a higher GPM pump. i think the sag will hold up but i gotta see
have any input?????? i got to make a descision by tomorrow morning because i will be leaving town tomorrow afternoon and the rest of my parts will be here monday or tues
the summit racing warehouse is less than 3 miles from where im working now....
I have no idea on that stuff man. I've never built a propane engine before, much less a gasser, so I don't know about altering the compression ratio too much. Us diesel guys typically just mill the pistons down or use copper headgaskets. sorry I'm not of much use, but I'm still learning (why I'm following your PBB thread).
i think im just going to go with the thicker head gaskets to give me around 12.4:1 compression and be safe with it...it will still maker about 460 hp and 560 ft lbs according to DD2000
thats alot of work to just put it together and hope it dont detonate....changing head gaskets after a rebuild sucks...

Those are decent numbers for prop.
No Kidding! Changin head gaskets period sucks, I can't imagine thinking that your done and having to go back and redoing them!
well you know my opinion on the whole situation.... you had too much power to begin with! see with my stock 302 my muffler didnt fall off, THATS when you know you have too much power
i would definitely take the safe side! i do NOT wanna come home early b/c you wanted 2 more HP and it detonated and blew the top end off, lol. wouldnt be too bad i guess... sit around the fire and
EDIT.... i bet he didnt tell anyone the motor is STILL sittin in the truck, lol. didnt wanna go to jasper to get his cherry picker so he leaves it in the truck! hahaha

-cutts-
1.) Having to would be so boring and so unfortunate.
2.) Hey man, easy! I did the same for a while, until it turned into a complete rebuild. Then I used a front end loader because it was easier/faster
i have a cherry picker here, just no engine stand, so i figured i would use the truck as the engine stand, haha
yes i already had too much power...but hey 60 more hp cant hurt can it??
plus i will have propane so no more worries with angle and the carb flooding out jumping ledges
now i need to fix my darn ladder bar bushing that i exploded the steel sleeve and ill be good to go until i swap the 63 chevies in
i agree with the beer by the campfire, hell i made it till sat night last time before i had to get rowdy drunk, heck i was already hal drunk when i blew my ladder bar up, killed the motor and had the muffler fall off on the same ledge, took 4 trucks to get me up the bypass too
