When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
Go to "User CP" (blue bar across the top of the forum page), then click "Edit Profile", then scroll way down to "Where You Live". Whatever you enter will show on your posts. That way, when you need something or have something for others, they will have a clue about shipping and other stuff. It's just easier than clicking your name and profile to find out what state you are in.
Thanks.
Another TARHEEL here, Hi to AXracer(my son lives in Raleigh), Living in Kannapolis NC which is greek for "city of looms" which used to be true but the big employer Cannon Mills went TU a few years back.
Morris, I agree. It seems that most newbie questions are those that are addressed in the stickies so it might not help even if there stand out in red font. Seems like the PTB (Ken?) could program the registration process through the set up pages requiring certain fields to be filled at the time of registration. Could even send em to the stickies just to highlight the fact that they are there. Just thinking out loud.
I`d really love to see the location as a condition for joining.
I can also see some how some new members maybe apprehensive until they get comfortible with this site and see just how friendly most of us are....
Hey Chuck I grew up in Custer, South Dakota. Grade school through jr High. My stepdad and family is from there. (The Herra's) I know my step granpa served in the Korean War, He also had a nice junkyard about 4 miles north of town, I spent many days playing and helping out around that place as a kid (not sure whats left of it now?.) Custer is a beautiful place to live!
We moved away in 92 and I have only been back once in 96 and missed my granpa since he was out of town that week, he got cancer shortly after that and died. he was a good man! He did more for me and with me than either of my other granpa's.
Josh,
Thanks for giving us yoru location but the main purpose of the thread is to have people go back and modify their profiles so that their location shows up in the header when you make a posting. this can be benificial if you are looking for help, looking for parts, or just looking to maybe find some like minded truck nuts in your area.
Its pretty simple really. Click on "user CP" then on the next page that comes up click on "edit profile" scroll down to towards the bottom of the next page that comes up and fill out the information boxes in the "Additional Information" section.
Now after you save your changes the info will automatically come up when you make a posting.
Of course if you would rather keep the info secret then you can do that too...lol
Excellent points Morris. Some sites offer a trial or look (lurk) only with no posting privlege until all required fields are filled in. The Toy site has newbies go through the intro thread first and points out the "help" stickies. The guy even has to select a dealer in his area before going any further. Now that is way overkill bigbrother stuff, but then it is supported by the dealers and I am sure they see any negatory posting from that member. o0
Can't believe I didn't open this thread till tonight, lol ! ! !
I agree about being able to see where someone is from. I travel around alot , driving if I have time, and it is nice see about people being from or near where I've been.
The 51 is parked in the garage in SC just west of Myrtle beach in the same county. I am there 3-4 momthes of the year ( multible trips ). Wish it was more so I could work on it more. Notice a lot of members in SC & NC.
