i posted earlier with my problems and did some research and want to remove the VSS from my 1996 F150 SC 4WD rearend to see if the 1.speedometer works 2. check engine light goes off 3. ABS light goes off 4. O/D light stopps blinking.
i was under today and how do you remove it? the rearend seems like it has walls to protect it.
1. Remove bolt. Remove rear brake anti-lock sensor (2C190).
2. Clean axle mounting surface, using caution to prevent dirt from entering rear axle housing (4010).
3. Observe if axle lubricant has leaked up through core or around perimeter of rear brake anti-lock sensor O-ring. Discard if leakage is present.
When I replaced mine, half was stuck inside the diff. I needed to use needle nose pliers to remove. The originals are made of some thin metal. The one I replaced with from Ford was a solid plastic piece and much sturdier.
