Excursion 7.3 "de-powering" with Edge Evolution

First off , i know i should dump the Edge and go with the DP, however i have only had the Edge for about 2 months so don't really want to go throught the hassle of selling it , etc... right now.

That being said, when the programmer is on the vehicle and i go to accelerate, it seems like after a few seconds the truck just depowers, almost like taking my foot off of the pedal. My foot is barely pushing the pedal at all in this posiition when it exhibits this behavior. Also, if i am at a crawl, almost idle, through a parking lot, sometimes it will "surge" as if the pcm returned to stock then it kicked in to the tow or race program. It's almost like its going in and out of program. Is this possible? i have contacted edge and left a message but have not heard back yet. some have suggested that it could be the TPS or IVS in the pedal assembly. However it does not do this when its on the stock program. also, no codes are being set when it does this. any suggestions? anyone else experienced the same thing?

I would say its a TPS problem, Any codes? That should be your first step.

It is most likely doing it in stock form also but you don't notice it, mine did the same way and it was the TPS. The Evo makes the throttle a lot more sensitive, or at least that is the way mine is...

Red face

Hey greagin, I have an 2002 4x4 7.3 Excursion that did'nt like the Edge Evolution either. I 'm not sure if this is the one you are refering to but it sounds like it. Well I removed it from the truck (Excursion) and reloaded the original programmer I bought for it which is A Superchips. HAH it runs great with this programmer. Yeah I don't get it either but for some strange reason my Excursion likes the Superchips better. It shifts and responds wonderful with this unit. It's been on my Excursion since 6-months after I bought it in 2002. Well here's another one for yah. I also own a 99,F-250,4x4 7.3 SB At. I decided to reverse this process. The Edge Evolution I used on the Excursion I had bought and been using on my F-250 for years with no problems. Well when I did the opposite, Installed the Superchips on my F-250 it ran horrible. So I removed it(SC) from my truck and reinstalled the E-EVO back on to my truck and VOILA..So obviously the pcms and supporting electronics are different.
I hope this helps yah out.Carlos.

Have heard nothing back from edge yet. I will call them again this afternoon. Can I replace the TPS without replacing the entire pedal assembly? Figure I'll try that before totally giving up on edge.
