i got an '04 5.4 f150..just got a muffler and tips replaced on it. i dont really hear ANYTHING different except when i start up and leave it at idle? is their a break in time for the flowmaster sound i want to start comming in?
just the 40 series. yeah im way over 300 miles now. im gonna get another pipe out the muffler so its gonna be one in and two out the back. would that step the sound up?
it sounds good when the truck first starts up. but id give it a 4 on sound. i have had a friend drive it twice so i could stand on the curb and listen. once after work so i could hear it hot and the other after the truck had been sitting for awhile. both are the same. the sound just is not just loud enough to hear.
I bet somebody put the wrong muffler under there. Is it a square? See if you can get the part #s off of it. I would give the 40 a "6.5" and I like them loud.
where would the part number be? it looks to be all smooth, no numbers. and i went to the flowmaster site at http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/sound.html and looked at the first one. it doesnt have the center output. the input goes in on the left side and out the other end on the right side. god i hope this guy didnt screw me over. i still got the receipt but its been a couple of months since he put it in
okay on the flowmaster site it said that every one of their mufflers comes with a "flowmaster" logo on it. mine doesnt. i guess the sob didnt put one in. this pisses me off
HMMM... well, there are a lot of Flowmaster knock offs that look exactly like them, but don't sound really good. He still might have screwerd you over. I know that might sounded nice and loud until i got used to it and that was on a 5.0 Chevy.
Ill go up there and talk to the guy and owner. i figure if they asked me why i waited so long is because i waited for the muffler to break in and if that they say i replaced it ill tell them to look at the welds. tahts what a guy in the other forum told me. ill get back on here tomorrow afternoon and let ya know how it goes. thanks for the help man
just got back from the muffler shop. guy said some of the 40 series doesnt have a flowmaster logo. something about a legal battle that flowmaster lost and now they dont have logos on the 40 series. sounds like bull, i dont see anything about that on a search i did. but he said he has a new shipment and he'll replace mine on wednesday morning free of charge with a case that says flowmaster

If he said they don't put the logo on the 40 series due to legal mumbo jumbo, how come he could put a new muffler on for you that says "Flowmaster"???
Sounds like the guy is a little nutz.
As said before there are many flowmaster knock-offs.
I think "Force" or someone makes a flowmaster lookalike that you can get in Jegs or Summit. May want to take a look maybe thats the muffler you have.

Easiest way to find out if that is true or not is to contact Flowmaster.
