I have a 99 and I am trying to diagnose the problem with the driver's side window.
The other day I put my window up and now it will not roll down. There is a clicking sound coming from the fuse panel area. I pulled the fuse, but it was good. I started to listen for the clicking and pulled the major fuses and when I found the one that stopped the clicking I replaced it, but the window still does not go down.
I then thought it was the switch, so I replaced that and it still is clicking.
Dose anybody have an idea what this could be? My passenger side window still works fine, but the drivers is dead.
Are you sure the clicking isn't coming from the door? It's close to the fuse panel and sometimes sounds are hard to pinpoint. I'd guess the innards of the regulator motor are shot. You can buy a kit to fix it instead of replacing the motor.

Yes, I know it is not comming from the door as I put my ear next to the fuse and hit the switch on the door. The noise was comming from behind the fuse panel. Time to rebuild the motor. Yeah me!!!!
I am facing the same problem on my 2003 SuperCrew. The noise is comming from the fuse box....no doubt. My driver's side window seems to always work in the mornings when the temp is cool to cold. Even in Summer if it's early morning. By 9:30 AM until late night it wont work. I have replaced all fuses. NO CHANGE IN THE OPERATION OF THE WINDOW?????
All the other windows work fine. Any Ideas???

My 99 now has this problem but the window does work half the time so I figured the motor was going.
My wife has a 2003 Windstar and that piece of cr@p has all kinds of electrical glitches in it that come and go that the Techs can’t figure out. One day its one window, the next time that one works but a week later another window will not work. Sometimes the electric side door will open up over night or the lights will start flickering inside the cabin. So much for getting the top of the line Windstar Limited.
i had that problem with my truck it pissed me off and i hit the door panel, worked fine. now once every 3 months it does it, i just hit the door panel and it works fine. the motor just cant get a good conection so i slap some connection into it

Did you ever find the solution to this, because I’m having the same problems?
