Holy Crap!
Now, I know my brother has some problems, but when he loads a truck ... no matter the size... to haul scrap iron and steel over to Pacific Steel and Recycling, he utilizes every cubic inch of space and engine.
I know y'all will call me a liar too, but I'm an old fart.. I can take it.
.... so go for it!Now... here's his story.
I sold him an 88 F250 with a recently rebuilt 460 and auto. The body kinda sat in a lot of sun, with the windows up, for a long time and was kinda beyond rotted out and melted down. So, he basically scrapped the truck and sold pieces and parts from it. Then..... then.... he decided to keep it and use it as one of his yard dogs. He's still loading it for the next trip over the tracks .... not a long drive...idles it in low. Springs bottomed out. And I'll be hanged if I can figure out what keeps the tires from exploding.
He loads ALL of his trucks this way. WAY overloaded.
Now.. you ask me how much weight was he overloaded with on his first haul with it? Well... I can't rightly say that I know the exact weight but he was all grins and giggles as he told me he hauled 6 tons in one trip. And ya know what.... I saw the truck as he was loading it.... he has side racks that are really tall. It was loaded past them.
I guess, tomorrow, when I go out there, I'll take a photo or three of some of his yard dogs that he separates the different metals into.
Oh... so far, he hasn't broken anything, but as I said, he idles over to the scrap yard, which is less than a quarter mile and on no well traveled roads.
So... actually, I do believe the originator of the thread, that his truck hauls X amount of weight and gets away with it. He may be pulling our legs, but I sure ain't. I'll try to remember to get some pictures tomorrow and come back and post 'em here.
Now MY little red baby... if they want to put more than 3/4 yard of gravel in her box, that'd be a big argument a brewing. A yard weighs in at a ton or so. And even though I know my truck would haul it... it just ain't gonna happen.
The heaviest load I've ever pulled/hauled with her was a big Bobcat ( forgot the number) on a huge and really heavy trailor.) I know I was overloaded, but it still did it without repercussion. It was by no means fast nor did it stop on a dime and give ya change. But it got-r-done. Ain't gonna happen again, though, I'll tell ya that much. That trailer and load were more suited for a 3/4 or better yet 1 ton...with big block.
I guess foolishness runs in the family..but some of us like it more often.
Back tomorow with some pics. And next trip, I go and photograph the scale slip.

But in reality a 1/2 ton must do more than haul 11000lbs like 93's can. Seftonm, we both know being from the same province that a truck isn't a truck unless it gets us through the snow and up those "nice" hills.
I wish I had the time to find these vids this one member posted.
It was a white 1/2 ton extended cab, ( possibly a 98 ) and the hills he was going up in that truck! And there was at least an inch of snow to boot! He even backed that truck up the hill!Flippin' amazing!
ps, I can't even bring myself to 93Ranger-ize my post. It takes longer to actually spell words wrong and type sentences that make little or any sense at all.....

Meanwhile... keep making fun. It's humorous.
Oh...and I lied about the weight the first time...sorry for the error. I asked him the weight last time I saw him. It was 7.5 tons. I'm going to follow him to the scale next time.
He has a 1.5 ton truck out back too. There's about two or three...I'll check... inches from the top of the rear duals to the bed bottom. Another interesting load...but I guess it isn't full yet either. Looks close, to me, but I've been mistaken before.
