hello fellas it been awhile since i posted. got a ? i got a 04 350 6.0 of course. my ? is every now and then when i hit the brakes it sudders meaning u can feel a vibration. a local mechanic said that the 250 and 350's are known for it. i seem to think it might need new rotors. keep and mind it still stops fine and does not squeak...
knock on wood this has been my only problem with my 6.0 not bad for an engine that was supposdly so bad
It's very likely it does need rotors if it shudders.. Yes they are common to shudder due to the size.. Best thing to do is check your rotors for any blemishes. Replacing them will remove the shudder but over time it will return.. I don't know of anyone else's opinion but mine personally.. Do not turn rotors on the SD's... As big as this truck is and the weight we carry around.. Replacing them with new ones is alot safer.. I've seen factory rotors get turned and be too thin to the point they crack.. Heck not a lot of people even turn them anymore.. I think O'reilly's is the only auto parts store that still does..
I agree with Storm, replacing the rotors is the only right way. I would recomend cross drilled and slotted rotors as I have uded them and have eliminated any warping issues on my 04 Excursion and countless 04 and prior superdutys. PM me and I'll let you know who I get them from.
Yes Power slots are by far the best option.. We stock the ProStop Slotted Rotors with a combination of Z36 Composite Pads.. They stop SD's like a car.. We have some on Bill's 7.3L and it's amazing.. I'm installing some next weekend on my SD..
Storm, you sell parts? I thought you chased tornatoes. This is very cool.
LOL.. I do both... I work with Bill @ Dfuser... He's a buddy of mine.. I'm more so his 6L Companion He's working on some new products for the 6L and we use my engine to test them..
Actually I do 3 things.. By day I'm a Network Engineer, by night I help bill with his Store and pushing products.. and during Storms I'm out Storm Chasing Plus 3 days a week 6p-11p I'm at school finishing my Masters LOL.. I'm a busy lil turd!
