After looking at Guzzles front needle bearing service I was thinking of doing mine. I checked the 2 major Ford service managers in my area that sell and service alot of super duties about troubles they have seen with the front maintenance free needle bearing, both said none and one said they see a little trouble at times with the o-ring seal for the vacuum leak, don't know if they are blowing smoke or telling the true. Wondering how many miles some have out there with no troubles.

Bowstring, this was what I found when I was told by the dealer, my mechanic, that all was ok, doesn't look too good to me. They practically fell out upon removal. Lesson learned, do it yourself. I chased this for 3 mos.

I have 185,000. I've had it only a year. And after 2 mos of owning the mystery started. I got so, tired of being told nothing was wrong, I tore in to it.The previous owner had claimed this was service recently. It was amazing how little the "factory trained techs and all other mechanics knew nothing about this prob. As you can see in the pic, the yellow o-ring was not installed, got alot of moisture from the utah winters and disinegrated the bearings.
