Driveline swap/solid axle conv

Has any one swapped the whole driveline out for 73-79 f150 driveline minus axle's. Iv'e got a good deal on a 78 4x4 435np 4spd, and a 208/ 203 it's part time set up for a 300 i6. I was thinking about using the 300 for the ranger how hard is it to install vs the 302. What size tires are we able to use swapping to the solid front axle.

I think you're gonna run into serious size issues with the I6. It's longer and taller than a 302.

That, and it's too heavy. The Ranger's t-case has aluminum casing, and the 203 and 208 are cast iron. John is right, the 302 is a much better way to go.

Yep, for ease of installation, go with the 302, but I hear you brother, the 300 I-6 would be so sweet in a ranger. It would be a torque monster, I've allways been a fan of the 300, it's one of the best motors ford ever built.

yea the aluminum t-case is why i want to get rid (it wont hold up) of it none of the ranger's drive line is built to take serious punishment the d35,8.8 and 4.0 are the rangers only strong points other than the old 2.3 put its a little underpowered for what im looking for. i was looking at the solid front axle swap d44 and a high pinion 9 and the 1/2 tons driveline would make it pretty much indestructable
