O'reillys has the ones that are 1/2" drive with seatbelt strap material for like $4-$5 the last one I bought. You can't go wrong with this kind I use it on my pick-up, suburban, bulk fuel tank, farm tractor, semi-truck oil and fuel filter. All of this and only one tool. what a deal, eh?
PSS: A trick I learned from a friend mechanic who works for Dallas Peterbilt is to use some clean grease, instead of oil on the o-ring on your filters. When you get ready to change them they are about twice as easy to loosen. I have been using grease on filter o-rings for 3 years now on about 9 different engines. Never had one loosen on its own, but also, they are much easier to loosen when time to change, which in my opinion is a good thing.
** before someone calls me out, I know the seals on the filters are technically not o-rings.............it was just easy to call them that and I figured everyone would know what I meant..............
If you have and old belt laying around, you've got the makings for a good strap wrench that works real well on the filter of a powerstroke. Just run the belt through the buckle and tighten it up and turn. If it slips, turn it around. Works great.
Kids, heck that's the least of my worries, I can out run em. The wife, now that's a different story. Actually karma got me the best. When I dragged the "cheater bar" into the shop I knocked out 3 floresent lamps and broke my favorite wrench
Ditto on the strap wrench! Plus they are handy tools for other jobs around the shop, like holding the flywheel of the lawnmower engine when removing the nut so you can replace a sheared key.
Double-ditto on punching a drain hole first! First couple of oil changes I thought I wouldn't need to do that, but those suckers are a little heavier than they look when full of oil and slippery as all get out after loosening sends a little oil down the side! I dropped 2 of them under the truck before I got "smart" and drained it first the next time.
Sorry for not answer before; Yes Plowhand thats my rig, I tried to make my gallery with more pictures but I couldnt, I dont know why. I ll try latter or try to upload here some.
Yes Cuda there are cotorras of differents sizes.
BTW Plowhand, what does BFH means?
RÖENTGEEP, BFH = Big Freaking Hammmer. Since this is an open site I used Freaking instead of the other four letter word that starts with and "F", if you know what I mean.
I know what you mean about the galleries. For some reason when I down load JAVA and try and do the gallery it gives me an error message that a JAVA file cannot be read. I have only tryed about 15 times so I just gave up. No gallery for me.
