coil springs

I read somewhere that econoline springs are a couple inches taller than F150 coils. F150 coils (80-96)_are 13" when in the vehicle. Just wondering if someone could measure theirs as and report back. From top mounting surface to bottom mounting surface.

You have to remove the coils from the vehicle to accurately measure them. It would be easier to find a parts souce that has both in stock and measure them there.

that would give you the unsprung height, Im looking for the compressed height. Two very different things. Mine are 12" compressed, I need ones that are 14"-15" tall at ride height to level the truck out.
If someone were to go out and measure theirs it would give me an idea. Thanks.

Is the front too low or did you raise the rear end? If the front is just too low then your springs have likely sagged and need to be replaced.

I would measure mine but my van is at home and I am not.

well theyre sagged and inch in the front, the rear is still healthy. Instead of paying $150 for some 2" rancho or skyjacker coils I remembered reading van springs are taller, with a higher spring rate. I want the front a little firmer, and a little higher. Im going to be using the truck as a DD for 6-8 months when I get my license back untill my gf gets her license, then Im turning it into my toy and buying a superduty. So I cant justify buying brand new coils to lift it level, when Ill be pulling them out and be going bigger once my ol lady can drive. We have 2 small kids so I can't just go big right away, its hard enough to get them in my F350.

So to recap, my coils are 12" compressed, stock is 13"....I need 14"-16" coils to replace them with, or I have to drop the coil buckets down a couple inches if van springs arent any taller.

hey Pud,
Just built my E-350 Clubwagon 4wd van from a rusted out donor E-250 Cargo Quigley.
Here are the measurements....
unsprung my coils are the same size...
the 350 coils had more of a spread in the lower half...I'm guessing for a smother ride
the 250 cargo coils were evenly spaced
both 5.8L w/air E-350 1995 / 170,000mi. E-250 1992 w / 155,000mi.
the 350 sat at 11in.
the 250 sat at 12in.
used the 250 coil for the extra height...the old Clubwagon ride is somewhat firmer now
hope this helped ...Al

Hey Al, thanks man....I guess that rumour I heard wasnt true then. Ill just drop the coil buckets down a few inches to level it out.
