I have a great memory... it just doesn't last very long!

Note pads, all over the house, help a great deal.

Here's what I do...and this is how my mind actually works. Lets say I just met someone named Karen, I will start repeating the name in my head...Karen, Karen her name is Karen...Like the woman that lives down the road, Karen. Karen that lives down the road, Karen that lives down the road...She lives next to Bill...Karen that lives next to Bill...Bill had a daughter, what was her name, I went to School with her...Susan, no that was her friend..Susan use to date Josh...I haven't seen him in a while, I wonder what ever happened to him...Oh crap, what was this woman's name again.

I read FTE posts all the time or maybe thats my problem

My memory stinks! Well, it's weird. . .short term memory is really hit or miss. If it's something interesting, I have a better chance of remembering it 5 minutes later. If it's unisteresting (99% of the time) I tend to just drift off and forget they are even talking to me. If I write stuff down, I forget where my note pad is (I have about 3 of them).

I can give you a step by step walk through of a video game I haven't played in years, but i've already forgoten what I was going to do today

Go figure

nah Frank, that ain't got nothing to do with it.
Tim can't remember anything cause he sniffed way to much horse manure, and it killed all his brain cells that are used for memory.

Tell her to limit her conversations to either 3 sentences, or 2 minutes in length.

Well at-least you lost brain cells organically. prolly has something to do with what those little Chincoteague's were eating. Theirs grass and theirs grass or some wild mushrooms.

I have always admired people that have fantastic memory ability..cause I can't remember scheiss.

My sister and I have had the same problem all our lives. We're both smart..she was a teacher..she had a master's degree, and was damn close to getting her Phd. I'm at least slightly above average and always was good in school and worked in electronics most of my career.
My Mom is 85 and remembers better than we do. Before my dad died he could still remember a lot of things that I was forgetting. I think memeory problems may be a chemical problem or physiolocial in nature..my parents both had good memory but my sister and I didn't. maybe something we ate or didn't eat..who knows!
I always had a bad memory, and coped the best I could. I don't dare tell jokes that I heard , cause I'll forget them mid-way thru..I always get in trouble with the wife during arguments..cause she'll always remember what we originally agreed on..and I didn't do whatever I was supposed to do.
I don't think the ginko gilobo or other exercises are going to change much. I do believe you are stuck with the brain you have and it isn't going to get any better...learn to cope.

you probably would go crazy if you remembered EVERYTHING....

tell your GF it's God's way of keeping you healthy!

I find the more it has to do with work the sooner I forget it...
