Wolf you have more stuff than you know what to do with. Look at my gtg post you'll laugh. I wanna meet you at the gtg i have some serious questions about a swap from a crappy 302fi to a 300 six carbed. Jump in with both feet son it's not cold!
For towing I'd go with the 300 I6. Its a great motor for towing. With the right gears & tranny it will tow a lot of weight & it will last. I'd try to go with a efi one if possible for more power
Just had a 1968 390 dumped in my lap for free, has the quenched heads whatever that is. Heads need rebuilt and the cylinders dont have any lip on them just need honed. Came with everything, starter, flywheel etc.. havent fully inspected it yet,, wonder if I can shoehorn it into my 86. I did read Hoxxi's post about stuffing one into his 85. 400+ft lbs of torque @2500 i believe. Should i do it instead of the 300?
With todays gas prices I'd go with the 300 I6. Its a proven motor & has enough torque for a 1/2 ton truck. If you need more grunt add some 4.10 gears to it.
One of my favorite Ford trucks was a 68 F100. I bought it with a wornout 240 I6 in it. I swapped in a new 300 longblock. It had a 4.10 rearend in it. It was a strong old truck. It pulled everything I ever tried to tow. I used it hauling firewood which you know is heavy. I hauled 1/2 cord loads in it with no problems. I don't need any rep for the gear comment. The right gears do more to help a truck tow than about any other mod.
I like your comment about the puppies Dutch. I wish I was the hero my dogs think I am. They think I'm god
okay wolf the question was....... got 2 mopar 360's 2 318's one roller and one flat tappet. a windsor in the truck should be running pretty quickly. a 318 in the daily driver. lets see now a 727, 2- 833 4speeds, and 2-9 inch rearends. anyone have a decent t5 looking to swap into my chrysler daily driver. oh and dont forget the 2 complete sets of mopar cop wheels. just saw a set on a black 89 crown vicky squad car for sale here in Rockford, looks wicked with mopar squad wheels. all this crap is in 1.5 car garage, around a 71 duster when it is not out at my buddies weld shop. gotta build a bigger garage out back soon. wolf i'm looking for a decent bug for a pal to build. passed on that rep for ya wolfie. Dan
I might drop the 3.8 - but I had some wild ideas (waiting on a welder) about stuffing it into the dang Suzuki... I HAVE the frame iron sitting out in the yard!
Jackson Avenue in memphis - Import Auto has a few beetles in the front of the lot. Unknown condition. But if you want a project with BIG rewards, i know where about a '66 or so Transporter van is real close to Shake Rag bar and grill.
It hasn't been touched in about a year (not even moved...), and is primered all over. I have not met the guy personally or stopped to talk - but he looks like scooter trash of the japanese kind... There are some goldwings from back in the 80's around the place.
