I'd say no more than $25k. Keep in mind, it's still a two year old truck. There is NO way to tell how it was treated before, so I certainly wouldn't spend that much on that.
On top of that, there are some really great incentives and financing offers on the new ones. On top of that, the 2005 models still had some of the bugs that plagued the '04s. With all of this in mind, I'd haggle for a lower price, or simply get yourself a new one.
I'll never know how Carmax stays in business selling cars at retail prices and say that it's a no haggle price. That price is way too high. Look around for some left over new '06's.
It may be a good deal for car max.....not for consumer...rebates and incentives, and do your home work and work with t least two to three dealers before you get serious......feelem out , end of month is a very good time to buy......check out all sources of financing.....when we got whitey...my new truck they were going to take away one of the ford incentives if we used their financing.....so more or less try to find best financing available....credit unions banks.....
Then beat on them til they yell uncle....any game they try to put past ya beat em at it....do not blink hold firm on what you want to pay......there is too much available to the consumer to walk into a dealership without being prepared....
When you feel they are about to run you off after they tell you that is the very best they can do you prolly got the best they can do.....chek out edmunds.com
and any other site that willtell you what dealer net is on an option....spec out what you want on your truck......GOOD LUCK and dont forget do not blink.....

04 Lariat's with 40 k km's are stickered for $28,900. You might get 2 grand knocked off that.
My 05 XLT was listed at $29,000. I got 1 grand knocked off that plus a good value on my trade-in. My truck also had very low km's and it was like getting an 06 because of it's late in service date.
I know this has nothing to do with the topic at hand but

Note...Faulkner Ford in Quakertown Pa just sold a 06 Triton XLT Super Crew 4x4 6.5 Bed Lease Return 15,000 miles for $25K. I went to see it, flawless but it was Gray w/Gray interior. I've had a Gray truck for the past 20 years...I'm Grayed out lol

Not seeing how that deal is better than the '05 Lariat loaded with 13K miles for $29. The Lariat works for me more than a XLT.
I was offered $22k for my 06 FX4 a few months ago. At that time it was only 11 months old. The truck is loaded, with :
Moonroof, Leather captains chairs, 3.73LS, 5.4, Tow Package, Chrome Package, 20" wheels, 35.7 gal tank, electric everything, Line-X bedliner, tonneau cover.
I shopped around and couldn't get more for it than that, so I decided to keep it. I had no choice. I owe more on it than it is worth. I was told that because of the huge incentives on new ones it has killed the used car market, so prices have fallen.
I got an 06 F150 XLT Supercab, with all the options and only 19 miles on it for 25K. I will try to move my previous thread forward about this issue I started when I first got my truck.

how is a vehicle that is 1 yr older with leather worth $4k more?
the only thing your buying when you get a Lariat is the name. the XLT can and does come with the same options. mostly anyways. somewhere down the road you will get a little extra for trade-in if it's a Lariat, but honestly, if you can find an XLT with leather, you're better off paying less for it.
my truck has every option a Lariat has and I paid at least $3k less than an equivalent Lariat. they are nice, but not that nice.
to each his own, but I'd rather take a gently used 06 for cheap or a brand new 07 than pay $29k on a 2 yr old truck
