OVD flashing indicator
I am new to both the forum and the diesel rigs, I drive a F350 97 7.3 4x4 , the OVD indicator started flashing while towing small load and would not go off. Truck seems to have lost power and not change gears. Tranny oil and filter changes are recent and regular. Any one have an idea of the issue?. Thanks in advance for the help.

You need to get the codes read, otherwise a lot of time can be wasted on speculation. Percentage wise it's probably set a torque converter slip code, but it could be any of a number of things, even a bad speed sensor or a fuse. The not changing gears part is a bit odd, could you elaborate?

I am having it scanned today and will comment on the codes that come up when I have them. Regarding the no changing gears, I should have mentioned that it is an automatic transmission, and once started in D, it just seems to stay there increasing rpm´s reading without going to the next gear.

Kind of odd, maybe an electronic control or hydraulic problem. Usually if something else causes the blinky light it will shift hard but still shift. Try starting out in manual 1st and manual 2nd and see if it behaves any differently. Also do you still have reverse?

Sounds like the VSS or wiring could be bad, and the computer is not seeing any speed increase. But it is best to do like JOAT said and get it scanned for codes to narrow down the possibilities.

Yes, JOAT I still have reverse
and I have tried starting in manual 1st and 2nd but it still would not shift from there up.

If you cant shift it manually sounds like theres someting wrong in the tranny or your tranny might have just gone ker-put. Good Luck hope it isnt major. How many miles do u have on the tranny?

I really can not say JBOARD,
as I just have a couple of months with the rig, but I had it checked when I got it and the report came out ok. I will wait for the scanner codes as you all suggest. Thanks for your comments.
