on my 54 f-750, there are two bleeder valves per rear wheels. The top valve sits between the banjo fitting and line that goes to the bottom cyl. The bleeder valve is to short , and cramed inbetween to get a wrench on ot with a bleeder tube.> I have to use a thin wall deep socket to open it, therefore I can not use a tube to bleed it.
the situation is this, I need a bleeder 7/16" by 20 thread, 2.25" long. NAPA can get them, but I have to buy 10 of them at 3.95 each plus shipping. Not a very good deal.
Napa did that to me when I tried to order axle shims last year. What am I gonna do with 8 extra shims @ $6 each? Not sure who's in charge of those packaging decisions but it doesn't work for me.

Ford did the exact same thing in the 1990's, and what was worse they changed the part number suffix, rendering 1000's of older part numbers obsolete. Ford said it was uneconomical to put 1 or 2 parts in a package, where 5 or more would fit. Bottom Line = $$ the more they sell, the more money they make. The long suffering customer is the one who pays...pays...pays for this caca del toro decision.

Well, from what I've seen, the Asian mfr's just stop making the parts altogether when sales start to get slow. Which is worse?

What's worse? Depends on your stand point. When Ford changed all those packages, they obsoleted 1000's of parts numbers. For example, parts that ended in the A suffix, suddenly ended in B. Here's the problem. All the parts books by 1990 had their final printing except the ones from 1980 and later. That means every single item that originally came as "package of one," now came in multiple packaging, with a new part number. A lot of time was wasted crossing those old numbers to new ones. Now here I am, with ancient parts books, trying to help y'all..and I'm facing the same problem. If I list a part under the old number, it may come up obsolete..when it might still be available under a new suffix. I only have so much in the way of update books to get new part numbers. If I could find a certain book from exactly 1/1992, that would solve everything...but the book is NLA from Ford, and ebay hasn't listed one all the time I've been here. So, tell me....what's worse?

If FORD were only as helpful as you Number Dummy, and they really wanted to preserve their heritage, we would not be having all these problems trying to keep the old ones on the road.
near 20 yrs. workin @ a gm dealer gm shut us down in their streamlining process, cuz we didn't have the room to expand and put up the huge palace they require for doin buisness, the so call image 2000 lookalike building program. we had consistantly the highest customer satisfaction rating in our zone and a total open door policy that allowed customers the run of the place so's they could see what was goin on when their car was in for service, not keeping it in total secracy. threfore they knew they werent being ripped off, and the $$ that were being made as a result were phenomal, you had customers for life. oh well typical big buisiness thinking...........btw.......the other dealer that was allowed to stay in buisness is now in $$ trouble (heh heh) big biz thinkin don't work in small towns. you wouln't have believed the bags and bags and boxes & boxes of stuff that went to the dumpster when we gave up the franchise but just the cost of doin' buisness, the customer needs 1 part you get 10 of em you eat it, toss em in a bin & hope you sell the rest. if you dont, well so be it, but the customer went away happy and the next time he needed somthin big, you would be the first stop and you would make that money back for that extra 9 pieces you had kickin around.
ya gotta wonder what some people are thinkin, those 9 bleeders would likely sell anyways, and the number of items that do sell just by someone wanting to go thru the boxes and match up are also quite high, that individual will usually buy probably a couple extra just to have some on hand for the next time.
well just my 2 cents
or in this case 9 bleeders
