6'4" 230#. I may be able to squeeze my sternum under that greasy F250 crossmember but that is nothing I want to do. With my luck one of the tires would pick that moment to deflate. No way I can get at it from the sides either due to the running boards. I used to just jack it up with the floor jack and support it with a couple jack stands. At my age I no longer want to crawl under at all...
LOL, yeah, I get what you mean.
I removed the running boards on mine for that reason. And it was always hitting my ankles.
Torque, you must be a helluva big guy if you have to jack it up. I could slip underneath easily under my 2wd pickup.
That would be me Jerm,
I can "just" reach the filter and unscrew it .
I used to be able to crawl under from one end to the other.
But then I used to be 8 lbs and was 22" long with a 16" waist too when I was younger
well i like the van pan idea. i can put it off for a while 3000 miles till next oil change when i will again bitch at what a crappy messy job it will be. i'm going to get the parts lined up and convert it. thanks everybody
I took an oil plug, drilled a 3/8" hole in the center, had a buddy weld a 3/8" x 6" pipe nipple right over the drlled hole. then threaded a 3/8" plumbung ballvalve with a 90 degree elbow off of it. It made changing oil almost fun! Pull a lever-swap filter- fill er' and BAM! no mess,no wrenches DONE! Depending on your angle of your drain you may need to weld a 22degree or a 45degree or a combonation to get the right drain angle.
