I just drive up on car ramps to gain access.

I'm thinking of getting a sure drain:

I think that will help me keep the oil off the crossmember and ground. It will also make clean up much easier.

LOL, yeah, I get what you mean.

I removed the running boards on mine for that reason. And it was always hitting my ankles.

I never hit an ankle but the running boards are about useless. When they get covered with ice they are plain dangerous.

Maybe you can route some engine heat to the boards to keep 'em defrosted.

Or Viperize them...run the exhaust pipes under the boards.

That would be me Jerm,

I can "just" reach the filter and unscrew it .
I used to be able to crawl under from one end to the other.
But then I used to be 8 lbs and was 22" long with a 16" waist too when I was younger

Before I installed the 429, I installed a front drain hole/plug and a Oil Heater coil.

With dual block heaters and an oil pan heater the engine does real well starting when it's -45*C

I took an oil plug, drilled a 3/8" hole in the center, had a buddy weld a 3/8" x 6" pipe nipple right over the drlled hole. then threaded a 3/8" plumbung ballvalve with a 90 degree elbow off of it. It made changing oil almost fun! Pull a lever-swap filter- fill er' and BAM! no mess,no wrenches DONE! Depending on your angle of your drain you may need to weld a 22degree or a 45degree or a combonation to get the right drain angle.
