Wow, didn't know insurance companies would even pay for that.
well, they either pay for it or total it...one way or another they pay...and if it costs 7,000 to do it ane the truck is 35,000 to 40,000 my bet is they'll be happy to pay for the frame...
To replace the frame or not is generally a saftey issue. In some places, like where I live, they will not straighten a truck frame -- this is what I have been told. The strenght of the frame is comprimised and given that we like to load up our trucks, the insurance companies do not want them falling apart and causing other accidents. Cars are another animal. Just my 1/2 penny.
Well, keep in mind that the frame bears the brunt of any impact. In order for the body to sustain any damage at all, the frame has to bend. The frame is connected directly to the bumper.....
what if you have a crack in the frame of a 1995 ford f150, and how much would it cost?

Welcome to FTE.
You are posting on a thread from 2007 about a nearly new truck. Your 1995 truck was old even in 2007. Starting a new thread would be a good idea for a question like this, as you should be in the forum for trucks your year.
To answer your question, we would need to know where the crack is. IF everything else about the truck is ok, and the crack is not at the steering box or spring hanger (where else would it be...) you could probably figure an hour for a welder to clean things up and run a bead on it.
If the crack is behind the steering box, spring hanger, or otherwise not easily accessible, it is going to be several hundred to $1000 easily.
A frame swap would easily be more than the truck is worth.
I think I saw a recent thread about someone fixing a frame at the steering box. I will try to find it and link to it.
This thread is in the correct forum and has a picture of some cracks and a suggested fix. It involves pulling the engine.
Just had accident with brand new 2006 F-150 XLT 4WD extended cab. Minimal body damage but adjuster wants to replace the Frame with new one. Anyone have an idea on ballpark cost to replace?
Wow what a score! A dealer with a brand new 2006? You probably meant 2016.......
Typically frame damage is when the vehicle gets totalled.
I would imagine labor would be higher than a replacement ruck.
